About Great Alaskan Earthquake Tour

On Good Friday, March 27, 1964, the Great Alaskan Earthquake shook the city of Anchorage with the most powerful earthquake ever recorded to hit North America. It Registered 9.2 on the rector scale. The city was devastated. You will see for yourself the amazing power Mother Nature has. Your experience is up close and personal on the Great Alaskan Earthquake Segway Tour as you move about on your personal transportation vehicle. The tour includes an informational short movie, orientation, and training on the Segway.

What we’ll do

You will meet us at the E Street Theatre on 315 E Street, Downtown Anchorage. There, you will have a 15-30 minute orientation, including a short film session to familiarize yourself with the Segway. Then it’s off on your approximately 2 hr. Segway Tour.

A major fault ran right through the center of downtown and you will see evidence of the great quake still exists today. After a few stops through town, we will hit the coastal trail to roll on to earthquake park. Along the way, we will view Cook Inlet, Sleeping Lady, and the Alaska Mountain Range to name a few sights. Maybe a Moose or two can be seen around Earthquake Park. On the way back from earthquake park you will stop off at West Winchester Lagoon to share some stories and enjoy Alaskan Glacier water along with a taste of an original Alaska fireweed ice cream.
